The Miraculous Benefits of Raw Honey

Discover why switching from processed sugars to natural, unfiltered raw honey can transform your health and boost your immune system.

Team Regal Nectar · 15 March 2026 · 2 min read

For thousands of years honey has been treasured as both food and remedy. Yet most of the honey on supermarket shelves today has been heated, ultra-filtered and sometimes blended — processes that strip away much of what makes honey special. Raw honey is different: it goes from the hive to the jar with as little intervention as possible.

What makes honey “raw”?

Raw honey is extracted from the comb, gently strained to remove bits of wax, and bottled — without high-heat pasteurisation and without additives. That keeps the natural pollen, enzymes and aromatic compounds intact. At Regal Nectar every jar is filled in small batches, so you taste the honey exactly the way the bees made it.

Why people are making the switch

  • Naturally rich in antioxidants. Raw honey contains polyphenols and flavonoids — darker honeys such as our Black Forest typically contain more of them.
  • Soothing for the throat. A spoonful of honey in warm water or tea has long been a favourite home remedy for a scratchy throat.
  • A better sweetener swap. Honey is sweeter than sugar, so you often need less of it — and it brings flavour, not just sweetness.
  • Natural enzymes. Gentle handling preserves the enzymes that heat processing can destroy.
Raw honey is still a sugar — enjoy it mindfully as part of a balanced diet.

How to enjoy it every day

Stir it into warm (not boiling) water with lemon in the morning, drizzle it over oats or yoghurt, or use it to finish a salad dressing. Adding honey after cooking, rather than heating it hard, keeps more of its delicate character.

A quick safety note

Honey should never be given to infants under 12 months old. If you are managing diabetes or another health condition, speak to your doctor about how honey fits into your diet. This article is for general information and is not medical advice.
